Service in an aging population volunCHEERS.
Teaming up with Maison Williams, we are addressing the issues of idleness and loneliness within the aging community. Our target population is retired individuals who are 65 years or older within Salt Lake City, Utah. This issue will be addressed through the use of an interactive app where older individuals can sign up for service opportunities in their community based on physical activity, skills, and interests. This is to create a space where the aging population can interact with other members of the community and benefit their mental and physical health.
After evaluating the aging population’s pain points, we concluded to create an app that would prevent social isolation while simultaneously building community.
Onboarding
In the onboarding process, users are asked about interests, skills, and activities in order to be placed in groups that best suit their social and physical needs.
Feed
After onboarding, users will have a profile that enables them to join groups. Similarly, they can go to their feed and see activities and volunteer opportunities in their area.
